A 5-panel comic page. Panel 1: Beck seems peaceful, his eyes closed. Panel 2: Beck gasps in pain. Beck (thinking): '...shit...'Panel 3-5: Beck covers his face with his hands and curls into himself, becoming smaller in the vast ocean.
A 6-panel comic page, arranged in 2 columns. In the three panels in the left column, Beck moves from covering his face in his hands to cupping his cheeks. In the three panels in the right column, the memory of Laura's face appears and slowly fades into the water. An unknown voice then speaks. Voice: 'You should wake up now. Your brother's coming.'
A 1-panel comic page. Panel 1: Beck wakes up at his bedroom desk, which is littered with trash and doodles. A shouting text bubble reads, 'Knock knock'.
A 4-panel comic page. Panel 1: Beck sits upright, drowsy and confused. An off-screen voice is speaking. Voice: 'Beck? Are you in there?' Panel 2: Beck notices his reflection in the mirror and is surprised to see a large bandage across his face. Voice: 'Can I come in?' Panel 3: Beck notices something on his sleeve. Panel 4: Beck's sleeve has a tear across its forearm. Voice: 'Beck?' Beck: 'Yeah. Yeah, sure.'
A 7-panel comic page. Panel 1: A young boy slams open the door to Beck's room. Beck's room is very messy. Panel 2: The boy looks worried. He has fluffy blonde hair, light skin, and freckles. Boy: 'Okay, okay.' Panel 3: Beck looks up at the boy. Boy: 'It's not bad, or not that bad. Aarden did say she had the nurses look at you. Nurses are nice.' Panel 4: The boy looks much happier. Boy: 'That's right. Nurses are nice.' Beck: 'Hi Sammy.' Panel 5: Sammy walks into Beck's room. Sammy: 'Hi Beck! I was really worried when Aarden said your match ended in a fall. But you're alive! That's all that really matters. Don't worry about the match anymore, okay?' Beck: 'Can I ask a question?' Sammy: 'Of course!' Panels 6-7: Beck raises his hand, showing off the sleeve of his jacket. Beck: Can you fix my jacket?'
A 6-panel comic page. Panel 1: Sammy sits on Beck's bed. Sammy: 'Oh, I see.' Panel 2: Sammy carefully takes Beck's arm and rolls up the sleeve of his jacket. Sammy: 'You know, I keep telling Aarden to stop putting you in matches.' Panel 3: Beck looks annoyed. Sammy: 'You don't know how to forfeit. You're gonna get yourself killed one day.' Panel 4: Sammy pulls down Beck's glove. Beck: 'Says you.' Panel 5: Sammy looks stern. 'It's different.' Panel 6: Sammy reveals the bandages covering Beck's forearm. Sammy: 'I'm just worried. I'm your brother...'
A 6-panel comic page. Panel 1: Beck looks guilty. Sammy: '...and I don't want you to get hurt.' Panel 2: Sammy pauses his examination of Beck's wound. Beck: 'You're right. I'm sorry.' Panel 3: Sammy looks concerned at Beck. Beck (quietly): 'I'm really sorry...' Panel 4-6: Sammy quickly pulls up Beck's glove and pulls down Beck's sleeve. Sammy wipes a finger across the cut on Beck's sleeve. The cut disappears.
A 5-panel comic page. Panel 1: Sammy raises his hands in a joyous and light-hearted manny, though Beck still looks a bit worried. Sammy: 'There! Good as new.' Beck: 'Are my bandages okay?' Sammy: 'Mm-hmm! Just change them tomorrow.' Beck: 'Okay...I'm sorry again...' Sammy: 'Don't be! Let's change the subject.' Panel 2: Sammy looks awkwardly to the side. The background looks like sunrays circling his head. He is clearly trying to quickly improv something. Sammy: 'Um...' Panel 3: A top-down view of Beck's room. Papers and clothing is littered across the floor. Sammy: '...Your room's messy.' Beck: 'Is it? Can't you just use your Chord to clean it up? Telekinesis?' Panel 4: Sammy puts on his big-brother face, furrowing his brow and frowning at Beck. Sammy: 'It's named Telekinetic. And no. Clean your room.' Panel 5: Beck stands up stubbornly while Sammy looks at him with a disinterested expression. Beck: 'Fine.'
A 5-panel comic page. Panels 1-3: Beck sits on the floor and picks up various items, including a pen and some random homework pages, when something catches his eye. Panel 4: Beck reaches for the item that caught his eye. Sammy: 'What's wrong?' Panel 5: Sammy looks surprised. Beck: 'My knife is gone.' Sammy: 'Huh?'
An 8-panel comic page. Panel 1: Beck shows Sammy the empty knife sheathe. Beck: 'It's gone.' Panel 2: Beck looks into the sheathe and thinks really hard. Sammy: 'What happened to it?' Beck: 'Hmm...' Panels 3-7: Beck remembers bits of his match with Laura, including her leaning over him, her slashing his face, and Aarden's silhouette in the window. Panel 8: Beck suddenly jolts into himself, holding his head. Sammy leans forward in shock. Beck: '!'
A 7-page comic page. Panel 1: Sammy looks deeply concerned. Panel 2: Sammy pets Beck's head. Sammy: 'Hey.' Panel 3: Sammy smiles gently at Beck. Sammy: 'Let's talk about something else.' Beck: 'Mm...mm-hmm.' Panel 4: Beck smiles up at Sammy, who goes on a long tangent. Sammy's words fade as he keeps talking. Sammy: 'Hmm..Lemme think...Oh! Today, this girl named Nickelle challenged me to a match. She said Lucas sent her my way. I keep telling that idiot not to talk about me when I'm not there... Panel 5: Beck's smile begins to fade. He looks suddenly tired. Sammy: 'Ah. You seem tired.' Beck: 'Mm...' Panel 6: Beck curls into himself, his eyes closed. Sammy looks worried. Beck: '...' Panel 7: Sammy sighs.
A 4-panel comic page. Panel 1: Sammy stands up, gently placing a hand on Beck's shoulder. Sammy: 'I think you're still tired from your match. Get some rest. Don't worry about your knife. I'll take care of it.' Panel 2: Sammy opens the door to Beck's room. He looks back at Beck and smiles. Sammy: 'Good night, Beck.' Panel 3: Sammy's expression changes into one of concern and sadness. Panel 4: Beck sits cross-legged in the dark. His eyes are closed. He seems to have emotionally and physically shut down.
